Homaar Show-Avignon

Avignon - 07/11/2023 / 07/25/2023

Inaugurated on the occasion of the Avignon festival, the Homaar Show is a unique collection of digital works. The names of the Saints of the calendar combine the identity and inventiveness of Homaar, embodied by singular animated silhouettes.

Every day, a new silhouette emerges from the shadows on the stage of a virtual theater. It bears the name of the Saint of the day and enters the circle, to join the dance. Without real faces, the silhouettes take on the appearance of urban icons. The community thus grows daily, in this theatrical setting where the Saints face us and move in rhythm. In their movements, the ambiguity concerns their existence, oscillating between contemporary puppets and human beings. Having left their halo deposited on the ground, they join it on the day of their feast where they become the stars.

These stagings, exhibited in an original way from July 11, 2023, are presented on a screen, placed on a tricycle, in Avignon. The works can be found online and available for sale in 10 editions each. Each Saint, carefully designed and animated, has its own identity. By acquiring a staging from the Homaar Show series, collectors become the guardians of Homaar Saints now celebrated, not only for their holiness.
