Mohamed Bourouissa “Brutal Family Roots”
For this new solo exhibition at Galerie Kamel Mennour, Mohamed Bourouissa questions the notions of origin and uprooting. Through a series of watercolor drawings and sound installations, the artist creates a narrative stroll where the viewer is invited to interact with his environment.
The watercolors are inspired by an incomplete herbarium from the 70s discovered by Mohamed Bourouissa at the Bibliothèque des Glycines in Algiers. In the continuity of his research and the works presented at the Sydney Biennale in 2020, the artist has also chosen to exhibit his latest installations. Made up of plants connected to a sound system developed by Jordan Quiqueret, the visitor in contact with them emits an energetic frequency that is transformed into a soundscape.
The exhibition is visible from September 4 to October 3, 2020
